How to get one over on the mega-sellers

By Sharon Fussell, February 26, 2014

Do you ever get the feeling that it’s never ever going to stop raining?

If you are badly affected by the flood situation, I do feel for you. We are quite lucky in that actual flooding has not impacted on us at all locally.

I know Amazon have a warning for some customers to expect delays due to the flooding situation. But I haven’t had an issue yet, in relation to postage and late delivery due to the bad conditions.

Rain is paradoxical, in that we need it to rain to exist, but in a perfect world, I would prefer it if it rains in the night/very early morning.

Then fewer people would be affected, but we would have the rain we need, although, of course not too much too create chaos.

I guess in countries where there is little rain, they would love some of ours.

And so it is that, in the world of book selling, there are floods or rain or wind, famine and feast, with loads of some titles, and a dearth of others.

If there is the situation where demand outstrips supply, then that’s a very good situation for us as booksellers: what we don’t really want is the situation where supply outstrips demand. This creates low and undermined book prices.

What really make me cross is where supply is fairly limited: the book is out of print and not that easily found, but prices have been undermined by mega-sellers so that page one of the selling page is taken up by low prices.

Most mega-sellers have arrangements with Royal Mail and pay a fraction of postage that we, as much smaller sellers, have to pay. It’s impossible to compete and it’s due to this that each day, I throw out several books – not because they are in bad condition or not in demand, but because other sellers have undermined the price to a degree that I can’t compete with.

So, now I have found a great way to ‘get my own back’ on these mega-sellers: I use them to make me money – of course, they don’t know this, but they are quite happy to make sales all the same.

If you have been affected by these mega-sellers and would like to copy what I do and make money from them; or if you would love to sell books online but don’t fancy trawling around charity shops or car boots to buy stock – or you don’t really want to leave your home to make extra income, I have the perfect opportunity for you.

In case you have missed my latest programme – on how to make extra income in the comfort of your home without investing loads of upfront cash and at a time to suit you, easily fitting around other commitments – then you will absolutely love Copy Paste Profit.

So why not take a look?

Remember, I am always happy to hear from you: let me know your success stories, no matter how big or small.
