Have you ‘asked’ Amazon?

By Sharon Fussell, March 22, 2013

Whether you are a new or existing seller on Amazon, you may wish to express an opinion or ask a question relating to your book-selling venture.

Despite the fact that you will likely be working on your own at home, you are never alone; Amazon have a seller’s forum that you can (and should) join. Just go to your seller account on the left hand side and scroll to a link called ‘Seller Forums.’

There you’ll find several links to all types of help and assistance listed by category:

  • Sell on Amazon
  • Global Selling
  • Developer Support
  • Forums Feedback
  • Fulfilment By Amazon
  • Checkout by Amazon
  • Amazon Webstore
  • Amazon Seller Discussion Board Archive
  • Help for New Sellers

You can even contact Amazon directly for all types of help and assistance:

Ask Amazon Services Europe: This is where you post general questions and receive your answers from fellow sellers and/or Amazon. (If you want to ask a question specifically related to your seller account you will need to contact Seller Support instead).

Note: Amazon are currently in the process of making changes to the seller forum as per below:

“We’re excited to announce the launch of the next generation of forums which include new features that allow you to further interact within the seller community.”

According to Amazon:

“You will be able to participate in discussions on both the old and new Seller Discussion Forums until the end of the year. After that time, the old forums will no longer be available for posting.”

Here are some of the more common questions relating to the new forums (or click here to view them online):

Q. Are the new forums really for Amazon sellers only?

Yes. To create a new post or thread, you must log in to the Seller Discussion Forums with your active Amazon Seller Central account. Such accounts include Selling on Amazon, Webstore, Checkout by Amazon, Marketplace Web Services, Product Ads and Fulfillment by Amazon.

Q. What if I want to ask a question about selling on Amazon but I’m not a seller?

You must be a seller to participate in the new Amazon Seller Discussion Forums. Potential sellers are welcome to read the threads, but you cannot contribute until you have an active Amazon Seller Central account.

However, answers to questions about selling on Amazon are available to anyone on our extensive Seller Help pages.

Q. Will I be able to use the same user account I had on the old forum?

No. The old forum used your Amazon.co.uk customer account to verify your credentials. The new forum uses your Amazon Seller Central account. This is for security purposes. You will be able to set or change the name displayed for your posts in the new forums by editing your Profile on the forum.

Q. Will the content from the existing forums be migrated to the new forums?

We will be evaluating the migration of threads from the old forums to the new forums at the time when the old forums are closed for new posts. If there are threads you would like to see continued in the new forums, we encourage you to start them again here.

Q. What if I have a question about the new forums? Who can I write to?

Please post your questions in the forum called Questions about the New Forums. Please do not use the Contact Us link from within your seller account for questions about the new forum.
